Case: Property had suffered from fluvial / pluvial flooding on three occasions and flooded to a depth of 800mm for about 3-4 hours in the lower ground floor of the house. What was needed to prevent future flooding of the property was veneer walling to the walls a retractable flood barrier to be installed across the back door of the property and a sump and pump installed to deal with rising ground water. The work was completed in 2007 and has since had its defence tested once to date in July 2009.

Tested by flooding?: Yes the property has had its defence tested in an actual flood event and there was no water ingress in the property.

Any important additional information: The two neighbours who also suffered flooding did consider flood resistance but decided not to do anything. Unfortunately they flooded again in the recent flood event.
